Product Care Guide

We would like to thank you for purchasing a tailored garment from us. See below for tips on caring for your new Suit or Sports Jacket.

Keeping your garment fresh

The best way to keep your suit fresh is by “air cleaning.” After wearing, hang your garment in a well-ventilated area, ideally outdoors in the shade, to allow it to breathe and refresh naturally. For minor stains or marks, an unscented baby wipe can gently clean the fabric without causing damage.

Dry cleaning should be used sparingly no more than 1–2 times a year as the chemicals can weaken the fibres over time. When it’s necessary, be sure to use a trusted dry cleaner who is skilled in handling delicate fabrics and tailored garments. Our team can recommend one if needed. This balanced approach will help maintain your suit’s quality and extend its lifespan.

DAY TO DAY CARE

Avoid wearing the same garment every day to give the fabric time to recover. Always use the hanger that came with your suit, as it is designed to maintain the garment’s structure. Avoid wire hangers, as they can distort the shoulders and damage the suit’s structure over time.

Regularly brushing your suit with a clothes brush will remove dust and keep the fabric looking fresh, while steaming is a great way to remove creases without causing shiny patches. If you’re traveling, hanging your suit near a hot shower is a quick and effective way to smooth out wrinkles.

TIPS FOR LONGEVITY

Taking small, consistent steps can significantly extend the life of your suit. Start by ensuring your trousers are hemmed properly to avoid catching on your shoes, which can lead to unnecessary wear. When sitting down, gently lift the front of your trousers to prevent bagging at the knees—this simple habit can help preserve their shape. Avoid overfilling your pockets, as it can stretch the fabric and alter the overall fit of your suit.

To further protect your trousers, consider rotating them throughout the week to reduce wear in high-friction areas. For added durability, we can also add a silk saddle to minimise friction and extend the life of your trousers in high-wear areas like the crotch. These thoughtful habits will keep your suit looking sharp for longer.

A FINAL NOTE

Consider investing in a second pair of trousers, as trousers tend to wear out faster than jackets. This will help your suit age evenly and last longer. While tailored garments won’t last forever, a little extra care can significantly extend their lifespan. By following these straightforward steps, you'll enjoy a sharp and well-maintained suit for years to come.
